ABOUT
Rupicola Academy was founded by Mr. Julio Larrea. Mr. Larrea's family was always passionate about education to the point that his father started his own computer institute. Following his father's footsteps Mr. Larrea wanted to provide an education experience like no other. He noticed that the most common pattern involved strict parents who wanted their children to succeed and disinterested students who hated school. This unfortunate combination created low self-esteemed adults. He, therefore, sought to counter this and to make education enjoyable. His vision, therefore, is one that prioritizes self-esteem, creativity and entrepreneurship and he hopes to instill these values on his students!
Experienced Tutor and Counsellor
Usually when big companies hire employees they brief them on 10 to 15 'scripts' that they have to memorize for the job. The employees regurgitate this knowledge and can answer the parents basic questions. At Rupicola we have a strict policy of only hiring people who have actually gone to school in America or taken the tests. You won't get someone who has been taught what to say but rather someone who has lived it!
Standardized Testing Prep
We get it! Standardized testing can be stressful. However, here at Rupicola we aim at not wasting our students time. We have found out that the best prep consists on targeting the 'sticking points' that an individual student have. Often times instructors will teach the students areas they have already mastered in an effort to make the students feel better about themselves. However, here at Rupicola think this approach is wasteful since we should target the main issues the student has. For instance, if a student is doing strong in the reading area of the ACT we won't go into it and instead, focus on Math.
Native Speakers Only
We get it, it can be stressful to learn from people who have only learned a language for two or three years. However, ALL of our staff is either native or near-native(they studied the language their whole life and gone to english speaking university) they have the highest levels of preparation. Our staff has degree in English, Philosophy, Spanish Literature and history. We guarantee the highest standards for our instructors. In addition, ALL of our instructors have ample teaching experience. We will NEVER hire someone who has only taught one or two lessons. All of them have at least two years of teaching experience.
